Traditional Bedouin Experience Tour
1 Day – 1 Night
We will begin our tour by 4×4 from Wadi Rum Rest House at 10.30am to the Red Sand Dunes area, where you can hike on the soft sand. We will then continue by jeep to the Anfashieh inscriptions. These are wonderful samples for pre-islamic Nabatean and Thamudic rock inscriptions and are thousands of years old.
And then, we will continue by jeep to Lawrence’s House, which was presumably used from ´Lawrence of Arabia’for staying and storing weapons there… Near this area we will stop for lunch and you will have the chance to help collect the wood for the fire with your bedouin guide. The lunch and, of cause, the bedouin tea will be prepared on the fire then.
After lunch we will go on by jeep to the beautiful Fig Valley, where you will do a short walk between 20 to 30 minutes. From there we will collect you by jeep to the Um Frouth rock bridge. To climb this spectacular rock bridge you just need to do a 5 minute hike up the rocks.
To experience the real bedouin life you can enjoy the well-known hospitality of the bedouins. You will have the chance to be invited by members of our family, which are still prefering a nomadic life living with their flock. In their traditional goat hair tents some typical bedouin tea with a will be served for you. The traditional goat hair tents shrink in winter, allowing the heat to remain in the tent; expanding in summer to provide natural ventilation.
From there we’ll drive you to a nice scenic spot where you can walk for between half an hour and one hour to the Sunset Point where you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset in the desert.
After this we will head to our sleeping place in a natural cave where we will light a fire. We will cook our dinner there, sit around the fire, tell stories about Bedouin life, and sing Bedouin songs. If weather permitting you can opt alternatively for a night under the starry sky.
On the morning of the second day, we will have breakfast and transfer you back to Rum village.
Matresses and, when you don´t have your own sleeping bag, blankets will be provided.
Since we are camping in the wild part of the Wadi Rum protected area, we can´t offer a bathroom!
